Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (the "Agreement" or "Terms") govern your access to and use of the National Narratives platform, including all related software, applications, features, content, and services (collectively, the "Service") operated by National Narratives LLC, an Indiana limited liability company ("National Narratives," "we," "our," or "us"). By creating an account, accessing the Service, or clicking "I Agree," you ("User" or "you") agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are entering into this Agreement on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization and that "you" refers to that organization. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not access or use the Service.
1. Description of Service
National Narratives provides an AI-powered media and communications platform designed for congressional offices, government agencies, political campaigns, and communications professionals. The Service is provided as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) subscription. Service availability and support commitments are set forth in the Service Level Addendum, which is incorporated into these Terms. National Narratives reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or aspect of the Service at any time upon reasonable notice, without liability to the User.
2. Account Registration and Eligibility
2.1 Eligibility. You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and have the legal authority to enter into binding contracts to use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the legal authority to bind that organization to these Terms. Use of the Service is void where prohibited by applicable law.
2.2 Account Creation. You agree to provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration and to update such information as necessary to keep it accurate. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify National Narratives immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
2.3 Organizational Accounts. Government tier and multi-seat accounts are issued at the organizational level. The individual who creates the account (the "Super Admin") has administrative control over all seats within the account, including the ability to add, remove, or restrict access for team members. The Super Admin is responsible for ensuring that all users within the account comply with these Terms.
2.4 Account Security. National Narratives is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to maintain the security of your account credentials. You may not share your login credentials with any other person, including individuals who are not assigned seats within your account. Multi-factor authentication is available for all accounts and its enrollment is encouraged within the product.
3. User Data, Privacy, and Media Contacts
3.1 Ownership of User Data. You retain all ownership rights to the data, content, and information you input into the Service ("User Data"). National Narratives claims no ownership interest in your User Data.
3.2 Media Contact Data. All media contacts and relationship data in your account, whether uploaded by you or assembled through Service features, remain the exclusive property of your organization.
3.3 Third-Party API Data Practices. To deliver certain features, User Data is transmitted to third-party service providers, including AI API providers, under written agreements that restrict their use of your data as described in Section 4.2 and the Data Processing Agreement. National Narratives’s commitment not to sell or share your User Data applies to National Narratives LLC; except for the contractual commitments described in Section 4.2 and the Data Processing Agreement, National Narratives makes no warranty regarding the independent data handling practices of third-party providers.
3.4 Anonymized Usage Statistics. National Narratives may collect, aggregate, and anonymize data about how users interact with the Service ("Anonymized Usage Data") for product improvement and marketing. We will not attribute this data to your organization without written consent.
3.5 License to Process User Data. You grant us a limited license to process your User Data solely to operate the Service.
3.6 Data Accuracy and Responsibility. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of all User Data, including your lawful basis to upload personal data of media contacts and other third parties.
3.7 Data Security. We implement commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, as further described in the Data Processing Agreement, though absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
3.8 Data Retention and Export. Upon termination of your account, National Narratives will make your User Data available for export in standard machine-readable formats (including JSON, CSV, or a structured ZIP archive) for thirty (30) days. Following this thirty (30) day period, your User Data will be permanently deleted from our primary production systems within an additional sixty (60) days, in accordance with our data retention policies and the Data Processing Agreement. Residual copies in encrypted backups are deleted in the ordinary course of backup rotation as described in the Data Processing Agreement.
3.9 Publicity Rights. For customers other than government entities, unless you opt out by emailing hello@nationalnarratives.com, you grant National Narratives the right to use your organization’s name and logo in our customer lists and marketing materials. For any local, state, or federal government entity, National Narratives will not use your name, seal, or logo, or otherwise reference your use of the Service in any marketing or public materials, without your prior written consent, and will not in any circumstance advertise or represent your use of the Service in a manner that states or implies government endorsement of the Service.
3.10 Data Processing Agreement. Where you process personal data through the Service, the National Narratives Data Processing Agreement is incorporated into these Terms and governs such processing.
4. AI-Powered Features and Third-Party API Usage
4.1 AI Processing of User Data. AI features are powered by third-party model providers accessed through their commercial APIs, currently Anthropic, PBC (Claude models, used for drafting, analysis, news briefs, and related features) and Google LLC (Gemini models, used to generate and synthesize audio for daily brief podcast features). Certain features, including Beat Radar and news brief supplements, use provider-side web search and web fetch tools: search queries derived from your account context (such as beats, topics, and principal profile information) are formulated and executed on the provider’s infrastructure to retrieve publicly available information, and results may include publicly available contact information for journalists and media professionals. We will update our subprocessor list and this Section before adding or changing AI providers.
4.2 No AI Training on User Data. We do not use your User Data to train or fine-tune any AI model, and we do not authorize third-party AI API providers to use your User Data to train their general models beyond providing the Service. AI providers may retain API inputs and outputs for a limited period (currently up to thirty (30) days) solely for trust-and-safety purposes under their commercial terms, after which such data is deleted; retained data is not used for model training.
4.3 AI Output Disclaimer. All content generated by AI ("AI Output") is a drafting aid only and must be reviewed by a human. AI Output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your purposes.
4.4 Compliance with Applicable Standards. Users subject to government ethics rules, franking regulations, or campaign finance laws are solely responsible for ensuring their use of the Service and any AI Output complies with such rules.
5. Payment and Billing
5.1 Stripe Payment Processing. All billing, payment processing, and financial transactions for the Service are handled by Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe"), a third-party payment processor. By providing payment information and using the Service, you agree to Stripe’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, available at stripe.com/legal. National Narratives does not store full credit card numbers or financial account information on its own systems; payment is completed through Stripe-hosted checkout, and National Narratives receives only customer and subscription identifiers.
5.2 Subscription Terms. Access to the Service requires an active paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed on a monthly or annual basis as selected at signup. Except as modified for government entities under Section 15, your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel prior to the renewal date. By subscribing, you authorize National Narratives and Stripe to charge your designated payment method on a recurring basis.
5.3 Free Trial. National Narratives may offer a free trial period for new accounts. Except as modified for government entities under Section 15, at the end of the trial period your account will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends. National Narratives reserves the right to modify or discontinue free trial offers at any time.
5.4 Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting National Narratives at hello@nationalnarratives.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to the Service through the end of the paid period.
5.5 Refund Policy. Subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or at the sole discretion of National Narratives. If you believe a billing error has occurred, contact us at hello@nationalnarratives.com within thirty (30) days of the charge. National Narratives will investigate in good faith and work to resolve legitimate billing disputes, but is not liable for errors, failures, or delays in payment processing attributable to Stripe or your financial institution.
5.6 Price Changes. National Narratives reserves the right to change subscription pricing upon thirty (30) days written notice to the email address associated with your account. Continued use of the Service after the price change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the new pricing.
6. Acceptable Use and Prohibited Conduct

7.2 User Content and Output. You retain all intellectual property rights in your User Data. As between you and National Narratives, you own all right, title, and interest in AI Output generated for you through the Service, to the extent permitted by applicable law, and National Narratives assigns to you any interest it may hold in such AI Output.

7.4 Copyright Claims (DMCA). We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, please review our DMCA Copyright Policy for instructions on submitting a takedown notice.
8. Disclaimers and Warranty Limitations
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, NATIONAL NARRATIVES DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT; WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, RELIABLE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS; WARRANTIES REGARDING THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR TIMELINESS OF ANY AI OUTPUT, MEDIA DATA, JOURNALIST INFORMATION, OR OTHER CONTENT PROVIDED THROUGH THE SERVICE; WARRANTIES REGARDING THE PRESERVATION, AVAILABILITY, OR RECOVERY OF ANY DATA OR CONTENT; AND WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OR PRODUCE ANY PARTICULAR RESULT.
THE FOREGOING DISCLAIMERS DO NOT APPLY TO ANY WARRANTIES THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL NATIONAL NARRATIVES LLC, ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE, UNDER ANY LEGAL THEORY, FOR ANY: INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY; DAMAGES ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON AI OUTPUT OR THIRD-PARTY DATA PROVIDED THROUGH THE SERVICE; DAMAGES ARISING FROM UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR USER DATA; DAMAGES ARISING FROM STRIPE’S PAYMENT PROCESSING OR YOUR FINANCIAL INSTITUTION’S ACTIONS; OR ANY OTHER DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF SUCH DAMAGES WERE FORSEEABLE. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, THE AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF NATIONAL NARRATIVES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL FEES PAID BY YOU TO NATIONAL NARRATIVES IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
THE FOREGOING LIMITATIONS DO NOT APPLY TO ANY LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless National Narratives LLC and its members, managers, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, and fees (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to: your use of the Service in violation of these Terms; your violation of any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right; any content or data you upload to or generate through the Service; your failure to review or verify AI Output before use or publication; any breach by you of the representations and warranties made in these Terms.
11. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
11.1 Informal Resolution. Before initiating any formal dispute process, the parties agree to attempt to resolve any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service (a "Dispute") through good-faith informal negotiation for a period of thirty (30) days following written notice of the Dispute by one party to the other. Such notice must reasonably describe the nature of your claim and the relief sought.
11.2 Binding Arbitration. If the Dispute is not resolved through informal negotiation within the thirty (30) day period, the parties agree that any and all Disputes shall be resolved exclusively by final and binding arbitration, rather than in court. The arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) under its applicable rules, as modified by this section and shall occur in the State of Indiana. The arbitration will be conducted by a single neutral arbitrator, who may hold hearings by videoconference unless the parties agree otherwise. The arbitrator has exclusive authority to decide issues relating to the interpretation, applicability, enforceability, or formation of this Arbitration Agreement.
11.3 Arbitration Costs. The costs of arbitration shall be shared equally by the parties, except that National Narratives will advance any filing fees required for claims under five thousand dollars ($5,000).
11.4 Class Action Waiver. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, YOU AND NATIONAL NARRATIVES AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION.
11.5 Exceptions to Arbitration. Either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent immediate and irreparable harm.
11.6 Governing Law. These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Indiana.
11.7 Venue for Non-Arbitrated Claims. For any claims that are not subject to arbitration, the parties consent to exclusive venue and personal jurisdiction in the state or federal courts located in Indiana.
12. Term and Termination
12.1 Term. These Terms are effective upon your acceptance and continue until your subscription is terminated.
12.2 Termination by User. You may terminate your account at any time by canceling your subscription through account settings.
12.3 Termination by National Narratives. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you materially breach these Terms.
12.4 Effect of Termination. Upon termination, your right to access and use the Service immediately ceases. Sections 3.8, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 14 survive termination.
13. Modifications to Terms
National Narratives reserves the right to update or modify these Terms at any time with prior notice for material changes.
14. General Provisions
14.1 Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Data Processing Agreement, the Service Level Addendum, and any applicable order form, constitute the entire agreement between you and National Narratives.
14.2 Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. National Narratives may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of its assets, with notice to you.
14.3 Waiver. No waiver by National Narratives of any term or condition set out in these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or condition or a waiver of any other term or condition, and any failure of the Company to assert a right or provision under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
14.4 Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, it shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force.
14.5 Force Majeure. Neither party is liable for delay or failure to perform (other than payment obligations) due to causes beyond its reasonable control.
14.6 Notices. Notices to you may be provided to the email address associated with your account. Notices to National Narratives shall be sent to the address in Section 14.8.
14.7 Independent Parties. The parties are independent contractors, and these Terms do not create any partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship.
14.8 Contact. National Narratives LLC, 44 N 9th St, STE 202, Noblesville, IN 46060; hello@nationalnarratives.com; nationalnarratives.com.
14.9 Export Controls. You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo.
15. Special Provisions for Government Entities
If you are a local, state, or federal government entity in the United States using the Service in your official capacity, and you are legally unable to accept certain provisions of these Terms, the following modifications apply solely to the extent required by applicable law:
(a) Indemnification. Any requirement in Section 10 that you indemnify National Narratives is waived solely to the extent strictly prohibited by applicable law, including the federal Anti-Deficiency Act, 31 U.S.C. § 1341, and analogous state or local statutory or constitutional provisions.
(b) Governing Law and Venue. To the extent you are legally prohibited from accepting the governing law or venue provisions in Section 11, such shall not apply, and governing law and venue shall instead be determined in accordance with applicable law.
(c) Arbitration. The binding arbitration requirement in Section 11 is waived solely to the extent you are legally prohibited from agreeing to binding arbitration.
(d) Automatic Renewal and Trial Conversion. If you are legally prohibited from agreeing to automatic renewal or automatic conversion of a free trial to a paid subscription, including under the Anti-Deficiency Act or applicable appropriations law, Sections 5.2 and 5.3 are modified solely to the extent necessary to comply with such law, so that your subscription does not renew, and your trial does not convert, except upon your affirmative written or electronic election, and your subscription obligations are subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
(e) Publicity. Section 3.9’s government-entity provisions apply, and no provision of these Terms grants National Narratives any right to state or imply your endorsement of the Service.
(f) Security Documentation. National Narratives is not currently FedRAMP certified. Government customers may request National Narratives’ then-current security documentation package, including its Data Processing Agreement, security controls overview, and current subprocessor inventory. Any additional security requirements applicable to a government customer shall apply only to the extent expressly agreed to in writing by National Narratives, and any such written agreement shall control in the event of a conflict with these terms.
